Ben Carson issued a statement on Wednesday saying he sees no path forward for his campaign, and will skip Thursday’s GOP debate in his hometown of Detroit.
“I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results. However, this grassroots movement on behalf of ‘We the People’ will continue,” Carson said in the statement.
He added that he will address his political future during a speech on Friday at CPAC in the Washington area.
The retired neurosurgeon briefly rivaled Donald Trump at the top of the polls last year, but plummeted after suffering a number of foreign policy stumbles.
