Back in March, I posted my FIRST IMPRESSIONS of the new contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7. Below is the original post, my end of season comments are in BOLD.
I finally watched the finale last night, for the most part I was pretty spot on with my thoughts.
I enjoy the camp and the humanity of this show each season. This year with new judges Carson Kressley and Ross Mathews, the show should hit its stride as best season of the series!
What I enjoy about this show is the diversity of Drag. I have been a fan since my first time in a gay bar (I told that storyhere in my review of dr.a.g, the Coffee Table Book by Christopher Logan) and in those many years, the drag world has seen numerous changes.
I remember the days of GLAMOUR and then comedy, and realness, it is all fun and highlights one aspect of our diverse community.
Season Seven is now underway, I already have favorites, but that will probably ebb through the season.
Below are my first impressions of the ladies who vie for the crown….. Season Seven Queen of RuPaul’s Drag Race!
Not the smallest or the prettiest girl in the room, but Ms. Minj will be lots of fun! Anyone who describes themself as a “glamour-toad” is alright in my book!
SHE WAS DEFINITELY LOTS OF FUN. FINAL 3 AND MY PICK TO WIN, I THINK HER “FINAL LIP-SYNCH FOR YOUR LIFE” LOST IT FOR HER, PLUS HER NOT SO NICE BEHIND THE SCENES PERSONA.
Jaidynn Diore Fierce
Big girl delight. She can spell and is full of loving herself!
AND I LOVED HER TOO!
PERSONALITY and old-time drag…. Ms. Masters will be fun to watch, if for no other reason than the anticipation of what she will say next.
A Puerto Rican girl with attitude… I’ve never seen that before! ; )
SHE MADE LITTLE IMPRESSION, HER ABILITY DOESN’T MATCH HER ATTITUDE.
Hot and full of personality, I think I may like her.
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!
Watch out…. if you are in a dance off with Ms. Davenport you are going HOME!
Not my favorite kind of drag, I do hope she grows on me, but the over the top character is simply over done!
I GREW TO APPRECIATE MAX, BUT I CAN’T SAY I EVER GOT HER, OR LOVED HER.
If Miss Fame was a perfume she would be TUNA! She is W-O-M-A-N! Placing a beauty mark on the planet…. work it girl!
SHE WAS HOT, BUT DAMN GIRL DON’T TALK SO MUCH!
Mrs. Kasha Davis
Seen it…. many times. This is a show about originality, not remakes of former winners.
BUT I DID GROW TO APPRECIATE MRS. KASHA DAVIS!
I don’t get it, the stepford wife robot just isn’t my thing.
SO MUCH TO SAY, SO LITTLE TIME. I THINK SHE WAS FORTUNATE TO MAKE IT INTO THE TOP 3 AND SHE IS A PRETTY BOY.
She has done her homework on how to win…… I don’t know if that is going to work.
WHO IS SASHA BELLE? SHE PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE STUDIED HARDER.
Old time drag, keeping the dream alive!
I APPRECIATE HER DREAM, BUT SHE WENT IN WITH LOTS OF THINGS WORKING AGAINST HER AND SHE NEVER MOVED PAST THOSE OBSTACLES.
Ok this girl could be a dark horse…. she is going to be fun and cute to watch or else I am going to want to slit my wrist every time she comes on-screen, the verdict is out.
SOMETIMES SHE WAS CUTE AND SOMETIMES SHE MADE ME WANT TO SLIT MY WRIST. ELIMINATED TWICE IN ONE SEASON WHEN ONCE WOULD HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENT.
She is young, she is beautiful and she will go far in the competition. I also suspect she will have a few meltdowns along the way.
CHECK, CHECK AND CHECK. THE WINNER, WHILE I DON’T AGREE WITH THE DECISION, I WILL JUST PATIENTLY WAIT FOR SEASON 8 AND HOPE FOR MORE.
IN MY OPINION SEASON SEVEN WAS ONE OF THE WEAKEST FOR THE FRANCHISE. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE SHOW GET SOME NEW LIFE NEXT YEAR. MAKE THE RUNWAY ALL ABOUT GLAMOUR, I DON’T WANT TO SEE MY DRAG QUEENS WITH BEARDS, TWINS OR SPLIT MALE/FEMALE.
OVERALL GRADE FOR SEASON SEVEN…… B-
