Log Cabin Republicans Announces Launch of Big Tent Tour
Washington, D.C. — Hot on the heels of the organization’s landmark Spirit of Lincoln Dinner which featured the attendance of Mary Cheney, Larry Kudlow, Congressman Paul Ryan, Senator Pat Toomey, Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and a litany of conservative luminaries, Log Cabin Republicans has announced the launch of its Big Tent Tour.
“At a time when the GOP’s chattering class is merely talking about a more inclusive message, our Spirit of Lincoln Dinner in Washington, D.C. showcased what Big Tent politics really looks like,” Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director Gregory T. Angelo stated. “But our work didn’t end at the end of that stellar event — in fact, it just began. We’re taking this show on the road, bringing a message of common-sense conservatism across the country from D.C. to L.A. and everywhere in-between, culminating with a major event at the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.”
The Log Cabin Republicans Big Tent Tour continues with events on the following dates and locations (more dates to be announced soon):
October 11, 2014 – Atlanta, Georgia
October 16, 2014 – New York, New York
November 1, 2014 – San Diego, California
February 2015 – St. Louis, Missouri
Spring 2015 – Los Angeles, California
Summer 2016 – Cleveland, Ohio (Republican National Convention)
Log Cabin Republicans is the nation’s largest Republican organization representing gay and lesbian conservatives and allies. The more than 30-year old organization has state and local chapters nationwide, a full-time office in Washington, DC, a federal political action committee and state political action committees.
GAY50: I applaud the members of the Log Cabin Republicans for stepping outside the national GOP and making a stand for inclusion. For too long, the ruling class of the GOP has projected an image of isolationism, white, male fat-cats. While I am a proud Independent and believe that the two-party system is ruining America, I also believe that there are more people like the supporters of Log Cabin Republicans than most are aware.
The fringe for both parties unfortunately get the majority of press and soap box to get their agenda pushed front and center. It is time for middle-ground America to take our country back, and I believe this is being accomplished by groups like LCR who are on the front lines every day making a stand.
