The LGBT Health Line:
Newsletter of the National LGBT Health Education Center
August 2014
National Health Center Week

National Health Center Week is August 10-16th! On August 12th we will be speaking to providers in health centers and other health care settings on a webinar with the Clinical Director’s Network, Taking a History of Sexual Health- Opening the Door to Effective HIV Prevention and Care. Gathering routine sexual health histories of patients in primary care is an essential feature of effective HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) prevention. Nonetheless, this aspect of care is often disregarded due to lack of time and/or discomfort with asking intimate questions. This webinar  focuses on how gathering information on sexual health can open the door to talking about HIV and STI prevention and lead to opportunities for effective linkage to care, care and prevention programs, and ongoing engagement in health care.
